Knock Me for a Loop Heidi Betts Books Reviews

Talk show host Grace Fisher goes to the hotel to visit her fiancé hockey star Zack Hoolihan only to find him with a naked woman. Outraged, Grace penalizes him with a life suspension when she publicly ends their relationship.

Already mentally down after losing Grace and playing poorly, Zack injures his knee and his placed on the injured reserve list. He feels like a loser knowing his beloved distrusts and loathes him though he never cheated on her and his professional hockey career is over. However he has renewed hope when his Grace visits him.

The third magic yarn romance (see Loves Me, Loves Me Knot and Tangled Up In Love) continues the misadventures in love between Zack and Grace. Ironically readers know Zack is innocent as we know he has no idea how she got into his room while on the road but mentally (and physically) hurt by his beloved's distrust of him. Grace's outrage of his betrayal of her could fuel a major city for years. This tale is well written and entertaining though why Zack tries to win back his love instead of moving on as she cross checked him with a high stick and refused to listen to him. Still fans will appreciate this fine contemporary sports romance wondering whether Grace can believe Zack is faithful to her.

In the last installment of Heidi Betts, Chicks with Sticks series, Grace Fisher and hockey player Zack Hoolihan were engaged to be married. While Zack was out of town with the team, Grace decided to go to where he was and surprise him. Well, the surprise was on Grace because when Zack opens the hotel room door Grace sees that he isn't alone and the person in his room is definitely not a hockey player. Now months later, Grace has still not forgiven Zack even though Zack has adamantly stated his innocence. Grace knows what she saw and she saw a half naked woman in his hotel room. That equals cheating in her book and there is nothing anyone can say to make her change her mind. And then something happens to Zack during a game.

I have laughed out loud more than once while reading Heidi Betts' Chicks with Sticks series. Until Knock Me for a Loop. The reason? I simply could not stand Grace Fisher. I found her to be spoiled, hateful, unreasonable, and arrogant. Those attributes didn't sit well with me and while I adore most everything Ms. Betts releases, Knock Me for a Loop isn't one of them. I couldn't understand Zack's wanting to be with Grace even though she treated him like he had a deadly disease and smelled bad. Grace never let him talk, she never listened to him, and she simply decided that he was lying. I personally wish Zack had found someone else - Grace Fisher definitely didn't deserve him, that's for sure.

Knock Me for a Loop did just that. I just wish I had liked the heroine. If non-listening and stubborn heroines attract you, then Knock Me for a Loop is the book for you. I won't be reading it again.

Please, oh PLEASE do not get upset from this review of mine, but I just could not grasp the concept as anything close to being entertaining to me.

Usually, I do a little research to what would appeal to me from the reviews, but I have been lucky in my past to find something I like without looking for reviews beforehand. In fact, I have found a few good series when I blindly grabbed a book at my local library. Apparently, this was not the case with this book.

After reading the first chapter, I got curious and wanted to read more. By the second chapter, I became even less impressed and even felt that I accidentally grabbed a book that is a little later in a series from this author. By the time I read through the third chapter, I decided to look at the reviews to see if it was just me that this book was not all that it was cracked up to be.

I learned that this book is the third of a series and even though some people looked at this book being able to stand alone just fine.... I regretfully have to disagree. When I finally managed to read part of the third chapter, I got very frustrated. Not saying that the writing is bad in any way.... it was not bad writing.... it just felt more like a bitter romance novel to me. Sure, I would be upset if I found a strange woman in my fiance's bed... Sure, I would want to cut ties and move forward.... Sure, I would have a little issue with believing his denial that anything happened.... That is about where I would want it to stop.

This book portrayed more of a groveling and weak man, trying to win the heart back of a bitter and un-trusting woman that had more revenge in her heart than reason. I did not see a romance novel unfold before my eyes.... I read the beginning of a catastrophe that required pity and I just was not up for that as an entertaining read for me. I'll admit that I skimmed this book to get it over with. The whole, "I'm telling you the truth, but you still don't believe me, but I will keep trying" scenario gets really old after a chapter or two. Then just add her stubborn tendencies with a very (and I mean VERY) slow uptake to realize that love is never easy and she fights to take him back left a bitter taste to me. Of course, I am not a knitter and the whole concept of an enchanted spinning wheel never made sense to me. That is, because I never read the earlier books of the series, thus the need to read this series from the beginning would have been a better choice.

With that being said.... This book was not my cup o' tea, but it might be for someone else. I would strongly suggest that you look into reading the series from the beginning to appreciate this book, I guess. As for me.... I am not planning on doing just that.
i so loved this series omg what am i to do if there is not any more,

I love this series. I loved this book. I thought it was a fabulous romance novel. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves a fabulous romance novel.
